IJE...

IJE...

Holidays have come and gone. I am yet to write any piece on my holiday but the bulk of my relaxation was spent watching Nigerian movies. Let me explain that I hardly do that. I belong to that category of Nigerians who would rather go foreign , whether it is movies , music or book, I would do it foreign. Not that I have anything concrete against my home people, its just that foreign excite or inspire me.

I would also like to mention that I still use tears to express my emotions- anger, fears, joys etc.

I state this because when I watch a movie that is emotional, I cry. And these tears do not extend to Nigerian movies. I know that there are a few exceptional home movies that are captivated but I have not had the patience or interest to watch one in almost 15 years. Long time isn’t it?

I watched Ije recently, I liked the preview when I saw it last year, but the usual me just let it go. I will not use my blog to advertise for the stakeholders of the movie but I must say that I was impressed. The national and foreign elements blended perfectly. Since the idea depicted was emotional, I shed a few tears, more that a few tears actually. I admire the talent of the lead Nigerian actresses that starred in the movie.

A good start for a New year. I know that in movies things are easier. I keep saying it, I wish life was a movie; it will be definite to say the least.I will say nothing of the lessons I learnt from the movie, life is a journey and every experience surely teaches something.

Keep hope alive.
